Parents:
The 2012 football season is just around the corner! In the off-season our rising seniors, juniors, and sophomores work hard in preparation for the upcoming season. Our incoming freshmen learn what the terms “commitment & hard work” really mean. My philosophy about football is quite simple: Twenty years from now I want your son to be able to say that participating in football for four years at Eastern HS was the best preparation for real life that he ever received.
I believe Merit Pay can never be introduced into education for we don’t know how well we have done until twenty to thirty years after they leave us. He will have learned how to: become loyal to a group; work hard in attempting to achieve goals; sacrifice now for success down the road; commit to a plan for success; learn that failure is an event, not a person; accept success, however knowing that tomorrow begins a new challenge. I believe that these prior characteristics are sometimes not learned at home, on the street or at school.
As for you, the parents, the high school years go by quickly. This is an opportunity for you to join your son in an activity when we both know, as kids get older; those opportunities are few and far between. Get involved in our parents club! You have skills that are needed. Money doesn’t always solve problems. Volunteer your time, resources, and skills. Feel free to call any of our committee members and ask how you can contribute. You will not only be helping our players but you might have some fun along the way and make some lifelong friends as well.
Our Booster Club Picnic takes place in August. You will meet the coaches, trainers, Athletic Director, Booster Committee and watch our practice in the stadium. I would strongly suggest that one or both parents attend. Attendance at the event will afford you the opportunity to clarify some questions about our program and meet the people who will work with your son.
Feel free to email me with any questions that you may have.

I will discuss all issues with you except two:
1) your son’s playing time;
2) another player
I will tell you this now: when your son gets as good or better than the player in front of him, he will get promoted and play more. He is evaluated every day by his position coach and by film. I believe we have one of the finest coaching staffs in South Jersey . Allow us to do the coaching and you do the cheering and supporting.
